We started this for
our own kitchen.
OUR 473ml FOOD WASH & CLEANER - PLANT-BASED, FOOD-CONTACT SAFE
It started with a simple worry. The apples felt waxy. The grapes had a dull film. We were rinsing and rinsing, but it didn't feel truly clean — especially for our kids' snacks and baby food.
We looked into it. Supermarket produce is often coated to keep its shine, and residues from farming and transport cling on. Water alone beads off. Vinegar helps a little, but not enough.
So we started experimenting in our kitchen in the Western Cape. We researched natural surfactants that are safe for food-contact surfaces, talked to local labs, tested gentle plant-based formulas that lift waxes and residues then rinse completely clear — without endless running water. Because here, water matters.
